Season 2021 against all odds

There is no denying Season 2020 was a disappointment, It showed so much promise with a nearly 30% growth in

Numbers for our club and the first full season to make use of our new facilities at Poulton Park delivered to us by

Our friends at the Georges River Council and our local parliamentary members at both State and Federal level.

The air was well and truly let out of the Balloon with delays to the season, a shortened competition, and restricted access

To watching our kids play sport, not to mention the at times over zealous policing of what seemed to be a sparse attendance.

But out of adversity comes opportunity, and our club executive have resolved to ensure that season 2021 more than makes up

For what was experienced in 2020.

We started with the new #SummerSeries Initiative which has seen some of our girls take advantage of their H2 Active Kids Voucher

Which enabled them to attend, completely free of any cost (which was important after Covid) They ended calendar year 2020 on a high

With a session from former Diamond and current GWS defender April Brandley and former CP junior and NSW representative Alison Lovat

Then we welcomed in 2021 with session from club coaches who are either current or former SSNA rep program coaches as well as ending the 9 week

Program with Former Swifts captain Abbey McCulloch, Under 23s and Opens Stingrays players with experience at GWS, Thunderbirds and Swifts

And ELITE level coach Maria Lynch who has coached high performance teams in both Australia and New Zealand.

Not only did they get all that, but they also get a $50 discount on the 2021 fees.

So at the end of this season when #SummerSeries2 comes up, you wont want to miss out!

Throughout January and February we have been busy preparing for the season ahead and we are pleased to be able to say that not only have we

Retained the numbers of 2020 but we have grown again by a figure of about 6%, a little less than the figure we were hoping to achieve but to be honest

We were being greedy. 6% growth after a Covid affected world is more than outstanding, and due to our unique position as the only St George District located club

Playing in the Sutherland Shire competition, our numbers are real growth for the competition rather than just the merry go round that is ridden by a lot of the other clubs at SSNA.

We have always been a club with a multicultural mix of families, Netball has not always been attractive to some community groups, but we are pleased to be able to

Cater in 2021 for some additional religious groups who require a modified uniform, we will be releasing a design on one of our club pieces that acknowledges our countries indigenous

Heritage, and we will be allowing all of our members the choice of their preferred uniform in which they will feel most comfortable.

Following some of the events at the conclusion of 2021, our club president is determined to transition Connells Point Netball Club into a powerhouse at SSNA.

In our 13 years at SSNA we have grown from just 14 teams with our most highly graded team a 14A Reserve team in 2008, and the remaining 13 teams that year

In B grade or lower… to season 2021 where we will have 40 teams, an A grade team in EVERY Junior Age Group, at least 4 teams in EVERY junior Age group (catering for ALL abilities)

And a view to ensuring that Connells Point Netball Club moves into the number 1 position across all 23 clubs at SSNA within the next 2-3 season.

We will be putting our money where out mouth is by providing #morenetball for #lessmoney for our players

Providing guidance and development opportunities for our coaches

Establishing a first class umpires program to ensure we develop new umpires and enhance the ability of our experienced umpire

If you are reading this news item from another club, you ought to consider changing to us and if you are reading this article as a new or returning member

You can be comfortable in knowing that you have made the right choice, will be treated fairly by a friendly team and will be given every opportunity to reach your potential

As a netball player, umpire or coach as well as a young girl, teenager or woman.

We are proud of our club, its history, its achievements and its future, we hope you are proud to be a part of it with us.
